No candidates filed to run for seats on the Needles Unified School District’s Governing Board from
Trustee Area 3 or from Trustee Area 4. According to the Education Code, the District’s Board must
appoint a qualified person to each of the offices at a meeting prior to election day. The appointee shall
then be seated at the Board’s organizational meeting in December 2026 “as if elected” at the District’s
November 2026 election. The Board will make these appointments at its regularly scheduled meeting at
6:00 p.m. on September 15, 2026, in the Needles Unified School District board room at 1900 Erin Drive.
If you are interested in applying for the appointment to either Trustee Area, you must: (1) be 18 years of
age or older; (2) a citizen of the state; (3) a resident of the school district – specifically a resident of
Trustee Area 3 or of Trustee Area 4 ; (4) a registered voter; and (5) not legally disqualified from holding

This November, there are two (2) seats open for election for the Needles Unified School District Board of Education. Specifically, Trustee Area 3 and Trustee Area 4 are open for election for 4-year terms (from December 2026 – December 2030) by the residents of those, respective Areas. A copy of the District’s Trustee Area Map is accessible on the District’s website.
The District’s understanding is that the earliest a Declaration of Candidacy can be filed with the County is July 13, 2026 and the final date to file a Declaration of Candidacy is August 7, 2026. Per District Board Policy, the District assumes no part of the cost of printing, handling, translating or mailing candidate statements filed pursuant to Elections Code 13307. Candidates may be required to pay their pro rata share of these costs to the District in advance as specified in Elections Code 13307 and candidate statements shall be limited to no more than 200 words.
The District encourages eligible community members who are interested in public service and supporting local schools to learn more about opportunities to serve on the Governing Board. Additional information regarding open seats, eligibility requirements, candidate filing timelines, and applicable procedures is available through the County Registrar of Voters. The District does not endorse or oppose any candidate and provides this information solely to encourage public awareness and participation in the democratic process.
